Most people know about the war cemeteries of Normandy, the most well-known being in Colleville. If you had the change to go, you know it is the most humbling experience and it's hard to describe the solemn feelings which fill your heart. As we traveled France and some of Europe, we try to stop and visit as many of them. Little did I know that there is one just 5 miles away from Paris, in Suresnes (even has an amazing view on the Eiffel Tower). It's only two stops away from La Défense. In fact, even some locals don't even know about it which is super sad to me.
You will find a lot of WWI graves and some WWII. You should talk to one of the onsite workers, you can tell you a lot about each of these soldiers. The loggias and Chapel is worth a look. As most of the American Battle monuments, you actually stand on American Soil. We've had many wonderful experiences there. We've met amazing people including veterans. I strongly suggest you assist to the Memorial Day ceremony (full schedule of events can be found on the website).
